Hi y’all! Ever feel like your eyes have become the Mojave Desert, complete with the feeling of a dust storm upon each blink? You’re not alone. Dry eyes are pretty common, and they can be downright frustrating – affecting your daily routine and overall quality of life. Thankfully, here at Dry Eye Care Texas, we’ve got your back (and your eyes!) with FDA approved treatments that can help your eyes sparkle again.

Let’s talk about your eye deep cleaning – no, not the kind of cleaning you would get at the dentist. However, our eye deep cleaning does help get rid of biofilm build-up which is similar to plaque on your teeth but in your eyes! Did I just hear you say, “Eeeww?” Don’t fret, we can help you get your eyes squeaky clean. First, we scrub your eyelids really well with an okra based product (yes, the slimy vegetable many people love to eat, but we won’t make you). This cleaning gel has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties while being gentle on the eyes (no pun intended).

After the initial cleaning, we rinse the eyes out with saline utilizing a device called Rinsada. With this light “powerwash” for the eyes, we are eliminating a marked amount of inflammation. In fact, studies show that this rinse helps reduce MMP-9 markers (an enzyme associated with inflammation in many dry eye patients) by over 70%.

For the grand finale, we flush out your nasolacrimal system using a cannula (don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt). Your nasolacrimal system is responsible for draining your tears from the ocular surface to the lacrimal sac and finally to the nasal cavity. Irrigating this system will help release stagnant build-up and debris, thus getting rid of any potential blockages and reducing overall inflammation. Homeostasis here we come! Doesn’t it make you feel Zen? Oooohhhhmmmmm……
