Bacterial/Mite Overgrowth on the Eyelashes

Overgrowth of mites on the lashes is more common than you would think! Blepharitis is a common and chronic eyelid condition, in which there is an overgrowth of bacteria on the eyelashes or biofilm on the lid margins. This bacteria build up can cause the eyelids to become irritated, swollen, and often oily, leading to symptoms such as itchiness, redness, and styes.

Blepharitis can be caused by a variety of factors, including meibomian gland dysfunction, skin conditions such as rosacea, and allergies. It can also be associated with certain systemic conditions such as seborrheic dermatitis and contact dermatitis.

In our clinic, we use the Zocular Eyelid System Technology (ZEST) to provide a comfortable and effective way to do deep eyelid cleansing. ZEST incorporates a patented formula called Zokrex, which contains natural okra polysaccharide to provide amazing results without using harsh chemicals that can irritate the eyes. In order to keep your symptoms managed, we recommend treatment with ZEST every 6 months for best results.
